SARASOTA – The Sarasota County Democratic Party (SCDP) condemned Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) for attacking small businesses that permit Democratic candidates to place campaign signs on their property.
Steube, running for re-election to represent the 17th Congressional District that covers Sarasota, Charlotte and the northern sliver of Lee counties, posted this on his Facebook account condemning the family-owned Stolltemeyer Smokehouse in Sarasota:
“Greg Steube hits a new low – if that’s possible – by attacking a family-owned small business that’s been serving Sarasota since 1995,” said SCDP Chair Daniel Kuether. “This from a party that claims to champion small businesses, a pillar of the American economy. Talk about hypocrisy!"
"Political signs are a core component of the democratic campaigning process. We will continue to place our signs wherever allowed, without passing judgment on businesses that host Republican campaign signs."
Steube’s latest salvo comes amid the recovery of local flood victims from Hurricane Debby, a stark reminder that he voted against emergency FEMA funding for victims of Hurricanes Ian and Idalia.
