A circus-themed festival on March 9 at the Circus Arts Conservatory will host 14 political candidates. Attendees can learn about the upcoming elections, meet candidates, and enjoy circus entertainment and food trucks.
SARASOTA -- Candidates for the U.S. Congress, Florida House and the Sarasota School andHospital Boards will be on hand to meet voters and their families from 3-5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at a free circus-themed festival at the Circus Arts Conservatory.
"We are delighted to give all Sarasota County voters, including our ‘snowbirds,’ a chance to meet 14 candidates running for election in August and November," said Daniel Kuether, chair of the Sarasota County Democratic Party. "We're also pleased to present interactive activities for children that teach them what voting is all about."
“It’s not too early to learn about the candidates and issues. Vote by mail ballots for the Aug. 20 elections will arrive in July.”
The event is a first-time collaboration among the Sarasota County Democratic Party, Sarasota and Longboat Key Democratic Clubs, the Sarasota Black Caucus, and the Sarasota Democratic Women's Club.
In addition to a one- stop "meet and greet" for candidates in the partisan congressional, Florida House and Hospital Board races and the non-partisan School Board elections, the festival will offer entertainment with circus arts performers, food trucks, face painting and more.
The Circus Arts Conservatory is located at 2075 Bahia Vista Street, Sarasota, FL 34239.
