SARASOTA—The Sarasota County Democratic Party (SCDP) today called on all its members and independent voters to attend a rally at Payne Park on Aug. 3 to protect the principles that form the foundation of our democracy.
The rally, to be held from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m., comes less than three weeks before Democrats will go to the polls on Aug. 20 to elect candidates for the School Board, U.S. House, and U.S. Senate.
The rally's goal is to provide valuable information to voters in a way that engages them personally. Attendees can expect various activities and informational stations to ensure an immersive and informative experience. From speeches given by candidates to entertainment such as live music, poetry reading, and even a drag performance, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
"Our community thrives when we come together to support initiatives that reflect our shared values of equity, justice, and progress," said SCDP Chair Daniel Kuether. “This year, perhaps like no other time in our lives, those values and the future of our democracy are at stake.”
One of the event's highlights will be the candidate speeches. This opportunity will allow the public to hear from the individuals they will be voting for, helping them make informed decisions on election day.
